The exuberant 1892 Queen Anne Traditional American Victorian Primrose House Bed & Breakfast is the perfect romantic getaway for any couple visiting the beautiful Hocking Hills State Parks and nearby attractions. It sits across the street from our Historic Hyde House Bed & Breakfast. Located in the heart of Nelsonville, guests are 1 block away from the charming Historic Square, HockHocking Adena Bikeway, Hocking Valley Scenic Railway, Rhapsody Restaurant, Stuart’s Opera House and numerous other quaint restaurants and storefronts. Guests are just a short drive to Hocking College, Hocking Hills State Parks, Lake Hope State Park, and Ohio University. Stay at our beautiful National Register Victorian House to explore, experience, and enjoy all nearby attractions in Athens, Logan, and Nelsonville, Ohio.
At the Primrose Bed & Breakfast, guests are welcomed to a beautiful peach colored home with a large, spacious front porch with a porch swing. This 1892 home was built by Dr. Isaac Porter Primrose. It was once his doctor’s office and the home to his family. After being a residence for over a century, the home was completely restored as a beautiful Bed & Breakfast. The Primrose House, along with the Hyde House, are two of the oldest homes in Nelsonville.
Upon entering the home, guests will notice the gorgeous oak trim, hardwood floors, colorful stained glass transoms, original kitchen cabinets with marble countertops, and the beautiful antique stove/oven. There is a dining area where homemade breakfast is served each morning, a sitting room where guests can play a game of chess, and lovely outdoor spaces with patios, decks, and a beautiful botanical backyard garden where guests can spend time relaxing, unwinding, or enjoying a take home meal from a local restaurant.

About the Rooms
In the Primrose House, the Garden Room and Terrace Room are located on the main floor. The Lane Room, Path Room, and Posy Room are located on the second floor. Each room comes with an ensuite bathroom. There is a half bath located off the sitting room.

Monday – Friday we serve breakfast at our Hunger Hiker Cafe & Deli located at Adventure Pro Outdoors. We are doing this to help prevent food waste. Each guest will receive a $10 voucher to use towards the menu (breakfast, lunch or dinner)! Check out the menu here. On Sat and Sun, we serve breakfast at the Bed & Breakfast from 8 AM – 9 AM.

This is not a traditional Bed & Breakfast where the owner or innkeeper of the home stays on the property. However, our business is family owned & operated and our team is just a phone call away for assistance. Our main headquarters is just 1-mile away from the Bed & Breakfast. The owners live in the area & are typically the ones cooking breakfast on the weekends.

Guests can store some supplies in the refrigerator or freezer, but our chef’s food is located there. We recommend bringing a small cooler.

No pets are allowed to stay in the Bed & Breakfast UNLESS they are service animals.
- Are there any curfews?
There are no curfews at the Hyde House Bed & Breakfast. We just ask that guests be respectful of the other guests staying in the house.
- Is the hot tub shared?
Yes, the hot tub is shared among all guests.
Guests are not allowed to take glassware into the hot tub with them! - What time is breakfast served? Is breakfast the only meal served throughout the stay?
On weekdays, guests will visit the Hungry Hiker Cafe & Deli (link to website). We offer in house dining or to-go style. On weekends, we serve breakfast between 8 AM – 9 AM. We typically do a buffet style serving. Breakfast is the only meal we provide throughout a guest’s stay. Guests are responsible for lunch and dinner. We highly recommend Rhapsody Restaurant, located on the Historic Nelsonville Square.
- What is served for breakfast in the morning?
At the Hungry Hiker Cafe & Deli, you can select from the items off the menu! Known for its giant sub sandwiches! On weekends, we typically serve eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, and fruit. However, that will vary depending on the season and what is being prepared that morning.
